This is Walthers 932-6884 PS Super Dome CHESSIE. Walthers Rolling Stock Pullman-Standard super dome, ready to run. Chessie System (safety express scheme, yellow, orange, blue). Big, bold & colorful. Originally constructed for the Milwaukee Road’s Hiawatha passenger trains, full-length Super Dome cars were operated by other railroads following the road’s exit from passenger service. Chessie System leased dome #58 from a private owner for its Chessie Safety Express excursion trains in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and repainted it in Chessie System colors. The trains were powered by restored steam locos including the Reading #2101 and later by ex-C&O #614.
