Constrained by the Treaty of Versailles, the German Kriegsmarine found a loophole to create a fleet of swift, wooden-hulled attack vessels known as Schnellboots.

These ships were meticulously crafted and improved over time. By the start of World War II, they had evolved into a formidable component of Germany’s naval power.

Equipped with three diesel engines and a triple rudder system, Germany’s E Boats ranked among the fastest naval ships globally. Their low silhouette, agility, and torpedo weaponry allowed them to infiltrate Allied convoys, inflict significant damage, and retreat before facing counterattacks.
